ISPO Award - Vultur GTX

At the 2016 ISPO international sporting goods trade show in Munich, the SALEWA Vultur GTX won an ISPO Award in the outdoor segment.
The ISPO judges said: “The Vultur GTX is the first heavy duty mountaineering leather boot to offer ergonomics and customization in a single package. It features a wide side and backward mobility thanks to the new Flex Collar. The fit can be immediately adapted to each unique shape of foot thanks to proven SALEWA’s features.”

We were pleased they liked it. A lot of work has gone into its development. SALEWA footwear, established in 2005, is actually our youngest division. Nevertheless, it has introduced an impressive number of product innovations. 

The Vultur GTX is our stiffest boot. For mixed routes and ice climbing, the nylon insole, ergonomic Pebax® midsole and Vibram® SALEWA PRO outsole provide compatibility with full-automatic/step-in crampons but still ensure good walkability.

Inside, the breathable GORE-TEX® Duratherm XL® membrane will keep your feet and toes super dry and warm even in colder conditions.
The customizable fit technologies that the ISPO judges liked so much allow you to tailor them to the unique shape of your foot – our multi-layer MFF+ footbed has two interchangeable layers and the Climbing Lacing offers accurate (and comfortable) adjustment in the toe-area for greater climbing precision. 

Like all our footwear, the trademark SALEWA 3F System connects the instep area with the sole and heel, ensuring flexibility and support. And the Flex Collar increases the ankle’s rear range of motion and comfort during descents.

I was out with a climbing guide ice climbing in Austria and noticed he was wearing a pair of Vulturs, his verdict: “Best boots, I’ve ever worn.” Hats off to the SALEWA footwear R&D team.
