GRANDE CIRCOLO PROJECT

AN ODE TO OUR HOME

ABOUT THE PROJECT
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The region of the South touches us deep inside. It inspires what Salewa is and does. South Tyrol is our muse, our playground and our home. The Grande Circolo is our ode to South Tyrol - an alpine tour along the regional borders over several stages. The project started in September 2018 with the Alta Via, a hiking tour from Tires to Sexten. Our team managed 150km and 8,770m of elevation gain in seven days. After that, there was a ski crossing 126,1 km, 8828 m up, 9454 m down over of elevation, with further stages still to come.

"THIS PROJECT REALLY GETS INSIDE OF YOU. IT MAKES YOU EXCITED. IT GIVES YOU GOOSEBUMPS DAYS AFTER BECAUSE IT LITERALLY MARKS YOU. IT FORCES YOU TO FIND YOUR LIMITS AND ALLOWS YOU TO BE AT ONE WITH THAT REAL, PURE MOUNTAIN.”

- SIMON MONDINO
The adventure started with ten strangers tentatively taking a single step together. And, for a full week, they ate, drank, slept, and moved in sync. By the week's end, they had bonded in a way that only a shared experience can make happen. Time may pass, but the Alta Via hiking route will live long in the memory.
