When securely attached by the straps and correctly adjusted, the helmet may not be easily moved or taken off the head. Prior to use a check must be made to see whether the helmet covers half of the forehead, and additionally adjusted using the straps so that placement is below the ears, at the correct distance to the lower jaw, and the clasp is fastened beneath the chin. Finally, adjust the helmet in accordance with the size of the head by means of the back knurl (also refer to positioning mechanism). The helmet is put on as soon as it has been properly adjusted. Only in this way can its protective capacity be guaranteed in an emergency.
1 A knurl: when turned to the right, the inner dimensions of the helmet are decreased. However, when turned to the left, the dimensions are increased in a fast and simple way. 1 A chin strap, which must be fastened in every situation. A well-fitting helmet doesn’t allow itself to be moved sideways, nor forwards or backwards. Every other change in the helmet’s wearing position can have an adverse effect on its protective capacity.
The helmet is constructed in such a way that it can be partially destroyed through the absorption of impact energy (rockslides, falls etc.) in order to protect the wearer’s head. Even if the helmet does not show any visible damage following such an impact, it should be exchanged in order to again be able to provide a 100% guarantee for its protective capacity in the event of a new impact from the above referenced forces.
