San Martino di Castrozza

This beautiful location is well known for its many ski mountaineering possibilities and its spectacular landscape that combines wild forests with rocky peaks and breathtaking panoramic views.

The 10 participants arrived at Pale di San Martino on Thursday the 09th of March. After having received the necessary SALEWA equipment, the mountain guides explained in detail the program for the coming days and the group travelled together to the “Ski Residence” hotel.

Windy conditions on the next day prevented the group following the original plans. Nevertheless, the participants received an avalanche training session where they learned how to behave in a rescue situation and how to use shovels, probes and transceivers correctly. After the training session, the group did their first ski tour to the “Valcigolera” peak and skied down the 40° steep couloir “Cigolera”. A welcome pizza dinner finished off the second day.

The participants reached the “Rosetta” hut by cable car and then skied down to the “Forcella Antermarucol” mountain gorge. Arriving at San Martino, they took the cable car back to the starting point. After having enjoyed the beautiful view from the “Rosetta” peak (2.742m), the group descended to the “Pradidali” hut where they recharged themselves with a delicious dinner.

After a night in tents under the starry sky , the group skied to the “Pradidali” pass and skied down a couloir that led participants’ heart beat faster – deluxe snow conditions paired with sunny weather. Before starting back home, the group enjoyed a nutrient-rich dinner at the “Cant de Gal” to round off the adventurous trip - or to say it in the words of the group: “It’s stunning how our common interest - the mountain - shaped this team in only a few days”!

Alta Badia

The second Get Vertical adventure took place in Alta Badia, South Tyrol. The region offers endless ski mountaineering activities in the Dolomites Mountains and delicious traditional food.

The ten winners arrived at the hotel “Antines” in Alta Badia on Thursday 23rd of March 2017. Each winner received the equipment needed for the next days and got in contact with the other group members at a welcome dinner.

The next day the group took the cable car to reach the “Sass Pordoi”. They climbed up and skied down three different couloirs before getting back to “Corvara” through the “Culea Valley”. By bus they reached the “Falzarego” pass where they spent the night at the “Lagazuoi” hut (2.750 m).

On Saturday the winners climbed up the “Forcella Grande” to reach the “Scottoni” hut. Due to a lack of snow, they had to take off their skis and to hike up the last part. After a pleasant descent with perfect snow conditions, the group went to the “Pralongià” hut, spending the night under the open sky.

On the last day of the second Get Vertical adventure, the group tried to reach the “Settsass” peak but unfortunately warm temperatures hindered them to reach it. Nevertheless, the winners enjoyed this sunny spring day before going back home.
