SALEWA APPOINTED EXCLUSIVE EQUIPMENT SUPPLIER OF BEIJING MOUNTAIN RESCUE TEAM
A FIVE YEAR COOPERATION AGREEMENT
A FIVE YEAR COOPERATION AGREEMENT HAS BEEN SIGNED WITH CHINA’S OFFICAL MOUNTAIN RESCUE TEAM UNDER THE MINISTRY OF CIVIL AFFAIRS
An official news release conference and donation ceremony was held in Grand Concordia Hotel. It’s truly a day to celebrate for all —SALEWA together with it’s China distributor Inspiration Outdoor Trading are cooperating and supporting China’s national emergency mountain rescue work. A five year agreement was signed between SALEWA-Inspiration Outdoor (Beijing) Ltd., and Beijing Mountain Rescue Team under The Ministry of Civil Affairs of the P. R. China.
Beijing Mountain Rescue Team (BMRT) is the only official mountain rescue organization directed by the Promotion Center for Emergency Assistance under the Ministry of Civil Affairs. It is a non-profitable public welfare organization established by Captain Wang in 2003. With over 30 professional volunteer members, Beijing Mountain Rescue Team has succeeded numerous mountain rescues in surrounding areas and severe national catastrophes such as Wenchuan Earthquake in 2008. The team’s main objectives including: educate first-aid and rescue knowledge and skills under emergency situations to the society; training of rescue personnel; and providing mountain rescues services to the common public.
Wang Peiying, PhD, Secretary General of the Promotion Center for Emergency Assistance, appreciated the long-term cooperative relationship built between the two professionals: BMRT – the mountain rescue professional, and SALEWA – the professional maker of mountaineering products. As a representative from the Ministry of Civil Affairs, Mr. Wang awarded to Mr. Yun Li (General Manager of Inspiration Outdoor) the “SUPPORT CHINA EMERGENCE RESCUE WORK” certificate with honor. He stressed that ”supporting rescue organizations is never a business action to the survivors; and the lives therefore saved, can never be measured in monetary terms. The outdoor population is growing fast in recent years, our society has paid much more attention to emergency rescue works and knowledge education, and the needs for professional rescue personnel and reliable products have increased enormously. That’s why we have to pass our acknowledgement to SALEWA, the new relationship will result not only in product supporting, but also a valuable contribution to the national emergency rescue work.”
During the donation ceremony, SALEWA passed its premium product line – alpineXtrem Pro apparel, footwear and climbing hardware to Beijing Mountain Rescue Team. As explained by Reiner Gerstner, SALEWA Group Brand & Marketing Director, alpineXtrem Pro is a product line designed for mountaineering professionals, “SALEWA is a true mountain brand with over 75 years of heritage. We’re so aware of the danger hiding in the mountains, in that case, we’ve been keeping close partnerships with many mountain rescue teams, guide schools, and professional athletes for years. Through cooperation, we learn from these partners, we study their experiences, we note their needs, and we design products with a true mountain heart. These partners helped us in testing products, and SALEWA carries their feedbacks into design and product improvements. We tried our best to avoid equipment causing accidents, and for the rest, we trust our mountain rescue professionals, they are the ones to keep lives going when disasters happen.”
In the meanwhile, apart from supporting professional outdoor apparel, footwear and equipment, SALEWA and Inspiration Outdoor Trading will also contribute technical supports to China’s mountain rescue works by developing positive intercommunion/experience exchange activities between European rescue organizations and BMRT, as well as supporting the knowledge transfer of mountain safety skills and knowledge training lessons to the common outdoor population. SALEWA, together with Inspiration Outdoor (Beijing) Ltd. have full confidence, that in the foreseeable future, the Chinese mountain sports environment will achieve great improvement both in public safety and health.
